Robert E. Meier (submitted by his son Bob Meier)
I am writing to let you know of the passing of my father, Robert E Meier, age 91, of Newport Beach, CA. He passed away on April 14, 2007. Although Dad moved to California several decades ago, he remained a faithful member of the Bellevue Council. He simply could not give up his long time allegiance to the Bellevue Council. I am not sure how many years Dad belonged to the K of C, but I am now 66 years old and always
remember his being a member.

Dad was remarkably active in virtually all phases of Council affairs. My distant memory reminds me that he participated in bowling, softball (ending up as manager of the team after actively playing up to his mid-50s), golf, bingo, and was editor of the Mariner for many years. I believe that he was an officer at some point, and am sure that there are many other activities at the K of C in which he was a key figure.

Dad was born in Ekron, Kentucky, but lived most of his life in Pittsburgh, Pa where he attended Allegheny High School and served as class president for four years. He married Betty in 1939 and served in the US Navy during WWII. He and Betty lived in Avalon and had 2 children, Bob born in 1940 and Marilyn in 1943. For most of his adult life he worked for the Postal Service and after retiring, he and Betty moved to CA in 1980 to be closer to Marilyn and the grandkids, Clay and Michelle. In 2005, Bob and Betty moved to Newport Beach, Ca. Betty passed away on Feb. 1, 2006 and Dad on
April 14, 2007. They Are survived by son Bob Meier of Alexandria VA and daughter Marilyn Frenz of Costa Mesa CA. They had four grandchildren: Christine Meier, Steven Meier, Michelle Frenz, and Clayton Frenz and one great grandaughter, Lauren Meier, daughter of Steven and Sharon.

I am not sure how many of Dad's contemporaries at the Bellevue K of C are still with us, but I am sure that those who are would like to know of his passage into eternal life.

With best regards,

Bob Meier
